Ashley Bakery has been expertly baking and decorating beautiful and delicious wedding cakes since 1988.
We have geographical and delivery minimums for orders and a Sunday minimum order of $1000.
We provide consultations and tastings by appointment only. All tastings are "to go". Please see the heading below for additional information.
We recommend scheduling the appointment six to nine months before your wedding. Click here to see our available dates.
Please have your date, venue, and many of your other details secured before you meet with us. It’s also helpful to have a preliminary budget in mind. Try to be flexible about your design, practical about your budget, and mindful of your needs. It will make you a happy client!
Consultations
You will need your date and venue secured before we set a time to meet. If you'd like to meet with us, we schedule appointments Monday-Wednesday-schedule permitting. Due to the nature of our work, our schedule doesn’t provide the opportunity for appointments Thursday- Saturday. We’re closed on Sundays.
If we're not able to meet in person, you can pick up a sample box "to go" during our business hours and we can finalize your details over the phone or through emails.
Before the appointment, you'll choose 6 cake flavors and a few specialty fillings from the list below. We'll send an invoice for payment prior to the appointment. We'll meet for less than 30 minutes to go over your details, design, etc. If you're not able to meet with us in person, we can go over the details over the phone or through emails.
All samples are "to go" only. Some couples have taken them to enjoy at an intimate picnic for two or as an after dinner dessert. Some couples have ordered several boxes to try with their whole extended families!
In person appointments are reserved for events with over 65 guests. If you don’t have 65 guests, we’re happy to talk with you about the cake details over the phone and email.
Sample Boxes
We ask for a 4-5 day notice on the sample boxes. They are available for pick up during our regular business hours.
Please see the cake flavor and filling options below. We do our best to provide the flavors and fillings you ask for, but we’ll make a substitution if it’s not available.
Choose 6 flavors of cake and a 2 or 3 fillings you’d like to try. In addition to the cake and fillings, all boxes have samples of the 3 buttercream flavors we offer.

All the sample cake flavors are frosted and filled with either Vanilla Almond Buttercream or Cream Cheese Frosting.Almond, Lemon, Marble, Vanilla, Chocolate, Chocolate Kahlua, Coconut, Strawberry Sour Cream Pound, Sour Cream Pound, Banana Chocolate Chip, and White Chocolate are frosted and filled with our signature Vanilla Almond Buttercream.
Hummingbird, Carrot, Italian Cream and Pumpkin Spice (available in Oct/Nov only), are frosted and filled with Cream Cheese Buttercream.
There are no adjustments or substitutions allowed for the buttercream on the samples.
Any specialty fillings (White Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry, etc.-see Filling heading below) are in little containers, separate from the cake and you can pair them as you like with multiple cake flavors.

Cake Flavors
Almond - This is a traditional cake with a light texture. This is our most popular flavor for weddings, birthdays, and every occasion
Vanilla - This is a light textured cake for those who like it old fashioned.
Lemon - Our Vanilla cake with just a hint of lemon.
Marble - Our Vanilla cake swirled with chocolate ganache. It's not your average marble cake!
Carrot - A moist and spicy blend of cinnamon, carrots and pecans-hold the raisins!
Pumpkin Spice (seasonal, available only in October and November) - When it is Fall and you really want a spicy cake, this cake with pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of clove is sure to please!
Chocolate - A true Devil’s food style chocolate cake.
Chocolate Kahlua - A rich mocha flavored chocolate cake with chocolate chips.
Hummingbird - This Southern cake flavor is a moist and yummy blend of bananas, pineapple and pecans- great with cream cheese frosting.
Banana Chocolate Chip - A delicious and moist banana cake studded with mini chocolate chips
White Chocolate - A Vanilla cake swirled with White Chocolate Ganache. It’s a creamy textured cake and very popular as an alternative to Vanilla. It’s great with Raspberry or fresh fruit and cream fillings!
Red Velvet - Familiar to all Southerners and Southerners at heart-not as rich as our regular chocolate.
Sour Cream Pound - A firm and moist pound cake that pairs well with several frostings and fillings.
Strawberry Sour Cream Pound - Our sour cream pound swirled with delicious strawberry jam.
Italian Cream - A family favorite-a delightful combination of coconut, buttermilk and pecans- great with cream cheese frosting.
Coconut - Our delicious Vanilla cake combined with moist flaked coconut.
Frostings
Vanilla Almond Buttercream is our signature buttercream. We also offer Vanilla Buttercream, Chocolate Buttercream, or Cream Cheese Buttercream as frosting and filling choices. Some designs are not suitable to be executed with Cream Cheese Buttercream.
We recommend Cream Cheese buttercream with Carrot, Pumpkin Spice, Red Velvet, Italian Cream, and Hummingbird.
Fillings
Our Vanilla Almond, Vanilla, or Cream Cheese Buttercream are the standard cake fillings. We recommend Cream Cheese buttercream with Carrot, Pumpkin Spice, Red Velvet, Italian Cream, and Hummingbird.

Price Quote
We book on a first come, first paid deposit basis. Your date is unconfirmed and available to others until we have received a deposit. Our price quotes/estimates are subject to adjustment, and are valid for 30 days.
We do not provide sketches until you have made your commitment to us by payment of the booking fee. You will receive an emailed quote usually within one week of the consultation date.
Deposits and Policies
The full details of our policies are outlined in our Expectations/Terms and Conditions, which you will receive along with your quote. If you choose Ashley Bakery to be a part of your wedding day, we ask for a $250.00 non-refundable retainer to guarantee the date and place your order.
For the smaller cake sizes, we split the total in half, with half down upon booking and the balance due 30 days before your event date.
Your order is not complete without all parts of the contract and a deposit. We offer delivery and set up in the Charleston area. The fees vary.

Rentals
We have an assortment of cake stands available for rent. The stands are rentals and must be returned to the bakery by the Wednesday following the wedding.
We do not return at the end of the event to retrieve them.
